Christian Education
Please join us on December 1 after service as we begin this delightful program. This book suggests a scripture reading, a reflection and an activity to do during each day of Advent. Each Sunday, beginning on December 1, there will be an opportunity to meet for group discussion and share experiences. If you would like to join us on this journey, please call the church phone at 860-872-0798 and leave a message with your contact information. We would love to include you!
Taking Back Advent
Are you looking for a way to set your focus on the true meaning of Christmas, but don’t have a lot of time?
Do you want something simple, that you can accomplish easily, yet you want it to add a sweet and satisfying component to each day as you move through the Christmas season?
Are you looking for easy-to-implement activities that you can do as a way to emphasize the spirit of Advent?
The beginning of Advent marks the first day of the Christian calendar and is a period of anticipation and preparation for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Advent devotional is not denomination specific and may be the perfect way to keep the miracle of Christmas in your days. In these pages you will find an easy-to-understand book that is intentionally not very long, so you can savor each reading in a short period of time. Suitable for individuals and families, you will find it very convenient to fit this devotional into even the busiest of schedules, yet it will help you experience the peace and joy that this special time of year brings.
While the start of Advent fluctuates each year and traditionally begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, this daily devotional starts as an entry point into the Advent season on December 1st. At the end of each devotional is a section called Today’s Activity, and there you will find simple suggestions on how to implement what you have been reading about. Nothing complicated, just small ways to help you move from the mundane to the miraculous during the course of your day.
